About Dermal Fillers

At Placer Dermatology, we believe in aging gracefully. We offer a wide range of dermal fillers and injectables that our providers will meticulously and artistically inject for the most natural and beautiful results. Each dermal filler is unique and replenishes your appearance immediately after treatment without the need for invasive plastic surgery. With your initial consultation, our board certified providers will recommend a combination of treatments that will keep your skin looking young and beautiful.

Juvederm

A hyaluronic acid gel filler, Juvéderm, is used to add volume in many facial areas that have lost volume due to aging or lifestyle habits. When injected, the hyaluronic acid gel immediately lifts and adds definition to areas that need it most, such as nasolabial folds, wrinkles, fine lines, the area around the lips, and more.

JUVÉDERM® is the #1 dermal filler collection in the world that offers 5 different products to meet your specific needs. Add volume to plump lips with JUVÉDERM® VOBELLA® XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC, smooth lines with JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC and JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE® XC, or for lift and contour in cheeks or shape in the chin with JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC-we have what you need to get the results you want.

Juvederm Voluma

Juvéderm Voluma is a thicker, firmer gel than traditional Juvéderm that is specifically designed to lift and contour the cheeks, but can be used in many areas of the face. With just one treatment session, Juvederm Voluma will leave you looking naturally refreshed.

Sculptra Aesthetic

Sculptra is a one-of-a-kind dermal filler that works to stimulate your body’s own natural collagen production. With each treatment, Sculptra gradually builds the foundation of your collagen in areas of volume loss to restore a more youthful appearance. Although initial results are visible within a few weeks of injection, they continue to improve over several months and last up to two years.

How to Choose Your Dermal Filler

With so many dermal fillers available, it might feel challenging to choose the right dermal filler, especially for first timers. Here are some tips to help you choose the right filler.

  • Decide on the skin concern that you want to address – Knowing which skin concerns you want to treat can help determine the most suitable dermal filler.
  • Consider your skin type and medical history – Some dermal fillers work best for certain skin types. You may also be allergic to certain substances present in a filler.
  • Learn more about your options – Reading articles about dermal fillers will help you learn more about these injectable products, their advantages, and their unique applications.
  • Schedule a consultation before making the final decision – It’s not enough to read about dermal fillers—you can only make the right decision after a consultation. Our experts will be happy to recommend the ideal filler for you.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Dermal fillers are a great option for the majority of patients. They are excellent for patients who are reluctant to undergo invasive cosmetic surgeries. Healthy people with realistic expectations are the best candidates for fillers.

People with hollow areas or moderate to harsh facial wrinkles are ideal candidates. Patients who want to increase volume in the lips are also candidates for dermal fillers. Candidates must be willing to come in for maintenance treatment if they want to achieve lasting results.

Your Consultation

During your visit at Placer Dermatology, we will listen to your aesthetic goals and examine potential treatment areas. We will evaluate your medical history, including records of past skin-rejuvenation treatments. We will provide you with recommended options and let you choose your preferred dermal filler.

Next, we will develop a treatment plan that is suitable for your aesthetic goals. We will discuss treatment details such as the process, ideal number of treatment sessions, and potential cost. We will make sure to address all your concerns before choosing a date for your dermal filler treatment.

The Treatment Session

The dermal filler treatment session may last up to an hour. The treatment will start by cleansing the treatment areas. The chosen dermal filler will be injected. Since many fillers contain local anesthesia, the treatment is very comfortable. The treatment areas will be massaged to even out the distribution of the dermal filler. An ice pack may be provided to minimize the swelling after treatment.

Aftercare

The patient can go home right after the treatment, and no intensive recovery process will be needed. The patient may experience minor bruising, redness, asymmetry, tenderness, itching, and swelling at the injection sites. Full results can be seen after bruising and swelling have ameliorated.

Aftercare instructions will be given to help the patient deal with minor symptoms and achieve optimal results. Intense physical activities will not be allowed for the first 24 to 48 hours after treatment. Exposure to intense heat and alcohol consumption should be avoided for at least 24 hours.

Putting pressure on the treatment areas is prohibited for the first few days. The patient will not be allowed to get facials, facial waxing, peels, energy-based treatments, or microdermabrasion for a minimum of two weeks after treatment.

What Results Should I Expect After a Dermal Filler Session?

The results of a dermal filler session can be observed immediately after treatment. Results will last from several months up to several years, depending on the chosen filler. Following skincare recommendations can help improve the results’ longevity.

How Much Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are priced per syringe. The treatment cost will be based on the number of syringes used during the treatment session, along with the type of filler chosen.
